What’s On Your Nightstand? (January)
Could it be? Am I actually remembering to post for this event! Oh my! LOL
I signed up for the WoYN event a LONG time ago, it seems, but I don’t think I’ve remembered to play even once since then! I always see the reminder about it too late, and then don’t participate. So, I’m excited to be playing along this month!
What’s on (my) Nightstand? Well, let’s see:
”Gods Behaving Badly” by Marie Phillips (won this from a fellow blogger, and can’t wait to start it!)
“The Habit Change Workbook” by James Claiborn
“The Courage to Start” by Jack Bingham
“Messy Spirituality” by Mike Yaconelli (have a bookmark in this one)
“Love in the Time of Cholera” by Gabriel Garcia Marquez (have a bookmark in this one, too)
“The Other Boy” by Hailey Abbott (one of my current reads!)
“This Side of Heaven” by Karen Kingsbury (another current read – must be reviewed & toured by February 13th!)
“Mindful Eating” by Jan Chozen Bays (review book — just came in the mail yesterday!)
“The Sound of Butterflies” by Rachael King (TBR*Lite Challenge book; library copy)
“Becoming a Better You” by Joel Osteen (library book)
“Being Zen: Bringing Meditation to Life” by Ezra Bayda (library book; bookmarked)
“How to Practice” by the 14th Dalai Lama with Jeffrey Hopkins (library book — currently reading)
I’ve got bookmarks in so many right now because I was having a hard time getting into anything. There’s a lot of pressure on me, right now, to get my review books read, as deadlines are quickly approaching for the blog tours those books are starring in. And, yet I have an interest in reading the library books, too — I’m curious about Buddhism, right now, so I’m reading up about that (I’m fascinated by Buddhists’ devotion — and I think Christians need more of that in their own walks of faith! — me, included!), and I have several challenge books that I’m aching to read.
Hence the mixed variety on my TBR shelf, right now.
But, as you can see, I’ve chosen to focus on THIS SIDE OF HEAVEN (a review book), and THE OTHER BOY (a “just4theheckofit” choice), alternating between the two. The other books will just have to wait.

I’m glad I’m not the only one with lists of books this time around. I got a new desk!! Come see.
Don’t let the pressure get to you. I have those spots too where I can’t get into anything I am reading…frustrating.
Well I hope this makes you smile…I am passing along an award to you…”Your Blog is Fabulous”. I enjoy checking in everyday and thank you for hosting great challenges.
If you would like to pass it on or just check out the cute button for the award, go here…

I really want to read Gods Behaving Badly – it looks like a lot of fun!
I like all your variety. Look like a lot of self improvement and self education as well as fun. Happy Reading.
I’m alternating between three books right now, not that they are bad, but they just don’t have my complete attention.
Great selection and a good variety too. Enjoy exploring buddhism and don’t stress. It will all get done.
woah, those are SOME shelves!
I have a few with bookmarks, too.
I hear you about having bookmarks everywhere! =D I soooo symphatize.
Your list looks fun though! THanks for sharing.
I have done a couple of book reviews and have one left to do, but I’ve decided I don’t want the pressure right now, so haven’t really gone too far down that path.
Love Karen Kingsbury!
I nominated you for an award.

Me again. I have an award for you on my blog. Lots of bloggy love today. Must be a karma thing.
Come see me at my blog.

Are you enjoying This Side of Heaven? I sped through it earlier this month… Karen Kingsbury is one of my favorite authors and this was no disappointment, although I was near tears at a few places!
good luck reading this month
I would have a hard time with all of those deadlines as well
I often have bookmarks in many books too.
I’m glad you joined in, and it’s definitely a “drop in” sort of event.
