Musing Mondays (April 20)
(Musing Mondays are hosted by Rebecca!)
This week’s question asks:
Coming towards the end of April, we’re a third of the way through the year. What’s the favourite book you’ve read so far in 2009? What about your least favourite?
My favorite books, so far (there was a tie), were “Vince & Joy” by Lisa Jewel, and “10 Things I Hate About Christianity” by Jason T. Berggren. One fiction, and one nonfiction.
My least favorite was definitely “Recover Your Good Heart” by Jim Robbins, as it just felt “off” to me. Or, I could “tie” this one, too, and say that I also didn’t really care for “Christianity in Crisis: The 21st Century” by Hank Hanegraaff (I didn’t even really finish this one — read the first 1/3, skipped the middle 1/3, and then read the last 1/3).
((See my other blog for a visual of the books I’ve read this year, by month!))

I had to go look on Amazon for the “10 Things” book. actually does not sounds like something I would hate as much as i though from the title..lol
Hi!
I’m not much for reading books about religion. I don’t like being told how to worship God. And if I’m doing it wrong in someone else’s eyes, well that’s my problem. The Vince and Joy book sounds really intriguing! Mine is posted. Have a great day!!
Sherrie
I have Vince and Joy on my TBR list. It looks great!
I enjoyed your musings, interesting reads

My reviews for the books I mentioned can be found under “Book Reviews” (in the scroll-box) in my sidebar.
I hear what you’re saying about being told how to worship, Sherrie, and for the most part, I agree. “Worship” can mean so many things… and in fact, there was a great title I came across a bit ago that had a section in the book where the female author said just playing with her kids at the playground could be classified as “worship”.
Everyone has to find their own method, definitely. I think God honors it all, so long as it doesn’t contradict what He’s taught.
But, i also have to believe that we can learn from Christian nonfiction books, too — I certainly have. Beth Moore, for example — her books have really opened my eyes to the deeper layers of the Bible, and it’s absolutely fascinating!
But, hey… to each his (or her!) own.
Going to check out Vince and Joy!
Wow! One your favorites so far. How honored…
I hope I can keep my standing by the end to the year!
