The Sunday Salon (May 24)

May 24, 2009

SS1I had a busy week, this past week. My coworker was on vacation, so my bosses gave me more hours than I usually get. Therefore, I haven’t had a great deal of reading time. But, I did manage to finish two (2) books, regardless! :D

The first was “Start Talking” by Mary Jo Rapini and Janine Sherman. It’s a Q&A guide for teen girls and their moms about health & such. A great resource.

The other was Susan May Warren’s new book, “Nothing But Trouble“, her first “PJ Sugar” novel. I thoroughly enjoyed this romance/mystery, and can’t wait for the next installment! :D

whatbothersmemostaboutChristianity_GungorI am currently reading “What Bothers Me Most About Christianity” by Ed Gungor. It’s got a lot going on, so I’m finding that I can only read it for a bit before having to set it down and do something else for a while. But, it’s a fairly short book, so I’m confident I’ll still finish it in a couple of days.

In the coming week, I really hope to finish up another 2 or 3 review books (including the above mentioned ‘current read’), as I’ve still got about 5 to go, with 2 of those having blog tours coming up in the next couple of weeks.

This past week on SHOULD BE READING: I mused about developing a love of reading; I teased everyone with two sentences from “City of the Dead” by T.L. Higley; I reviewed “Start Talking” — a book for teen girls and their moms; I raved about books I’d like to read again ‘for the first time’; I failed to ‘find‘ any new-to-me book titles; I reviewed “Nothing But Trouble” by Susan May Warren; and I ranted about the overused plot themes in Christian fiction.

Happy Reading, to all! :D

  1. Getting extra hours in this economy means more than a strain. Sorry to hear you were so busy but hope the extra time was worth it. Happy reading.

  2. Give us a hint….What bothers him most?

  3. My co-worker’s last day was Friday so I am going to have a bit more work on my plate come Tuesday. Joy!

Hope you are enjoying the weekend.

Please be patient if your comment doesn't show up right away... I will 'release' it as soon as I can. Thanks for your thoughts! ~MizB
