The Sunday Salon (July 26)
I cannot believe that summer is half over already. Time is flying by this year — in fact, it seems to fly by faster and faster every year! I’m sure that’s just an illusion, but still…
This week was not nearly as good for my reading as last week was. I didn’t read 5 books in 5 days again, unfortunately.
Instead, I got a couple of books in the mail, and have been slowly working my way through the first one.
“The Sacred Cipher” by Terry Brennan is just my kind of book! It’s got Ancient Egyptian languages, secret codes, ciphers, and mystery/suspense. Perfect! I’m really enjoying it! I can’t wait to write my review!
In the mail, I also received a copy of “Riley Socks” by Leahanne Allen. I reviewed it the other day, so you can go read my review if you’re interested. It’s a children’s book about the author’s daughter, Riley, who has beat cancer — and Riley is only 6 years old!
Another book that came into my possession this past week was “Breaking the Barriers” by Jason Frenn. This one will be a blog tour over at MizB’s Book Reviews (my other blog) next month, but you’ll also be able to find the review here, once I’ve read the book.
I also got a few books from the local library this week… I picked up Hailey Abbott’s “Flirting With Boys“, but haven’t yet had a chance to start reading it. The review books have to take priority, as their blog tours are coming up fast. But, this looks like it’ll be a cute, quick read. I really enjoyed her other book, “The Other Boy” (click to read my review).
I also picked up “Skinny Bitch” by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin. I’ve read most of this already, but skipped quite a few parts, as it was all stuff I’ve already read in other weight loss books, or stuff that I just didn’t care to read about (politics). I enjoyed what I did read, though. And, while I didn’t agree with everything they said, I was almost convinced to become a vegetarian after their chapter on the mistreatment of animals in slaughterhouses (how can people be sooooo cruel???!).
Anyway. That’s what I’ve got on my nightstand at the moment, and what I’ll be busy reading in the near future.
Oh, one other thing… I have two (2) books coming to me via Interlibrary Loan (ILLO) shortly, one of which should be in this week: “One Small Step Can Change Your Life: The Kaizen Way” by Robert Maurer. The other book is the manga novel, “Emma (vol.1)” by Kaoru Mori. I can’t wait!

I’m looking forward to your review of The Sacred Cipher. Have a good week!
Five books in five days last week! I am impressed. I wouldn’t worry that you didn’t manage it this week as it is hard to fit life around reading sometimes.
I was just thinking about that this morning… I can not believe that we are almost through July.
I feel like I missed an entire month somewhere!
I also received Breaking The Barriers. Can’t wait to read it!
Breaking The Barriers is my first book. I appreciate you taking the time to look it over. -Jason
