REVIEW: “Dead Until Dark” by Charlaine Harris
I can see why this series is so very hyped… it’s cute, and reads quickly!
I really enjoyed the story, and look forward to reading the other 8 books. The only qualm I had — and my hope is that this will improve in future books — was Ms. Harris’ lack of imagination in descriptives… she’d use the same word to describe a character’s actions within a paragraph of having used it previously, and it drove me crazy! There were some other minor grammatical things that irked me, too, but –like I said– I’m hoping to see that improve in the following books.
Otherwise, this is a great book, and I couldn’t put it down!

The books get a lot better starting around, 3 and 4.
Dead Until Dark is one of my fav. Are you reading this for the Sookie Stackhouse challenge?
Yeah, I am… the first book was also on my “Raved-Reads Challenge list, too.

Yes, the books improve over time, but they really aren’t great literature — just loads of fun. I think Sookie is a fantastic character.
I still have this to read
I love the series here.
I love the Sookie Stackhouse series! I think I read the entire series in a span of two weeks. They’re definitely light and fun. I had the same complain about the descriptions though. They do get redundant throughout the series!
