Musing Mondays (Jan.25)

January 25, 2010

((Musing Mondays are hosted by Rebecca!))

This week, Rebecca asks:

Where do you keep any books borrowed from friends or the library? Do they live with your own collection, or do you keep them separate? Do you monitor them in anyway?

I keep all of my borrowed books (mostly library books, but occasionally books I’ve borrowed from friends/family) on the one bookshelf beside my bed — on the top of that shelf, actually, since it’s just a little one. That way I know exactly where everything is, and I’m sure not to get them mixed in with my own books, or lost somewhere else in the house.

In the picture (above), you can see the stickers on the spines of the library books, on the top shelf. I also keep my review books up there, that way I can see –with one glance– what will be a next reading priority. ;)

  1. Shoot, your picture isn’t showing up in my browser! I try to keep my books separate from my other books too. It’s the magazines I borrow that get me into trouble. Enjoy your Monday.

    Here’s my musing

  2. I don’t, but I should. This is a great idea! I’m horrible at picking up random books that I’m not familiar with off of “on-sale” racks at the bookstore and then confusing books on my shelf as borrowed books or ones I bought that I just can’t remember. And, since I now try to off-load as many as I can through paperback book swap, I don’t want to put my name in them when I purchase them. Great post and great idea!

  3. I keep my borrowed books seperate as well. I don’t think I could stand to mix them in with my own collection. Probably 50% of the books I read in a year come from the library, so it would be CHAOS to just mix them in :)

  4. No, certainly, they can’t be allowed to mingle! Chaos will ensue!

  5. Sadly, I never borrow from the library. I really should start that, but I can’t help buying books instead. Usually my friends are borrowing from me, but when I do borrow from them the books go on my TBR shelf, unless I’m reading one at the time, and then it’s with me wherever I go.

  6. I have only just joined our local library and the two books that have come home with me to date have been kept aside especially in a re-usable bag with our library logo on it. I am paranoid about not returning library books in time and read the two books in two days (each) so I wouldn’t forget to take them back.

  7. Keep mine separate too. See two good books on the top shelf (Pink Carnation and Luxe).

  8. Hello!

I was able to get my Teaser Tuesday up early this week.

Please be patient if your comment doesn't show up right away... I will 'release' it as soon as I can. Thanks for your thoughts! ~MizB
