FnFS: Why Not Recommend It?
((Faith ‘n Fiction Saturdays are hosted by Amy!))
Today’s question asks:
What keeps you from recommending a book? Poor writing? Poor theology? Explicit sex? Profanity? Violence? Inappropriate subject matter? Are there any books you love so much you would recommend them to anyone or does each recommendation you make take the person you are recommending the book to into consideration?
Most of the time, what keeps me from recommending a book is just plain old poor writing. But, occasionally it’ll be coarse-language, etc.
Almost always, I’ll take into account who I’m recommending to. If it’s my Christian friends & family, I’ll not recommend secular books that have language & such, as I know they won’t even bother reading them. They’re pretty tight in what they will pick up & read (unlike me, who seems to be fairly lenient ~ maybe that’s not such a good thing? LOL).
But, if I’m recommending to my fellow bloggers, I still might make the recommendation, but will put out that little heads-up in my review in order to warn the more sensitive readers about content.

I definitely take into consideration the person to whom I am making the recommendation.
Here is mine
I hear ya! I’m the same way. I wouldn’t recommend a book that had anything remotely offensive to Christian friends. They’d take me in to have my head checked if I did.
I appreciate that you’d give a heads up to your Christian friends!
