Musing Mondays (Mar.29)

March 29, 2010

((MM are hosted by Rebecca!))

This week, Rebecca asks:

Do you – or are you even able – to do other things while you read? Do you knit, hold a conversation, keep an eye on the TV? Anything?

I’ve tried walking while reading — it didn’t work. I sometimes will try to read while the kids are watching TV, but that doesn’t work out so well, either — I get too distracted, so I usually end up going to read in the other room. And, I can talk with others while I am reading, but then I don’t focus on the book very well, and end up having to go back and reread bits.

So, really, it’s just better for me to do one thing at a time. ;)

Mind you, I often times will be reading while I’m cooking dinner… I’ll keep the book away from the food, of course, but I’ll put something on the stove, then go sit down at the table to read while I wait, then get up and stir whatever it is, then go back and sit to read, etc. In the meantime, I can also be doing laundry, or handling other “mom” stuff. ;)

I guess it just depends…

  1. I read while cooking too!

    Here is mine

  2. I have the same trouble with reading and walking. I slow down way too far and then bump into things. Or people.

    My post is here.

  3. I read while cooking too.

You can find my MM HERE

  4. hmmm…I don’t really like to have to stop while I am reading just because smoke is pouring out of a pot or something.
sometimes I like the white noise of music of the TV in the background while I read. but I don’t really pay attention to it.

  5. On my daily walk listening to an audio book I pass a lady who is holding a book reading. I want to stop her and ask how she does it. I’d trip.

  6. Oh, cooking! I didn’t think of that – I often read while/between cooking.

Please be patient if your comment doesn't show up right away... I will 'release' it as soon as I can. Thanks for your thoughts! ~MizB
