The Sunday Salon (May 23)

May 23, 2010

Once again, I haven’t gotten a lot of reading done, this past week. But, I did finish a book — “What Happened to My Life?” by Danna Demetre. It was good. I gave it a B- rating.

This weekend, I went to visit my sister, who lives in London, Ontario. While there, she took me to the Farmer’s Market at the Western Fair grounds. Oh, what a cool place! The main floor was all produce, meats, and other yummy foods. But, if you went upstairs, there were treasures to find!

I was giddy to find many vendors selling books in addition to their other wares. ;) The best was this one lady who had a table FULL of paperback books in boxes! Only one book caught my eye, mind you — and I didn’t even buy it as I’d already read it (“The Gazeboby Emily Grayson) — but there were other goodies that did persuade me to buy them. For example, there were Webkinz for only $3.00! No tags, but still… these things normally sell for $15. I couldn’t pass up the deal, as there were some that my kids really wanted. I called my munchkins (back at home) and asked which ones they wanted, and brought home the Cheeky Dog and the Black Bear. ;)

But, the absolute best find at this lady’s table was this…

I was in love! I picked up this lovely stack of books to try to find a price tag, thinking that this was the best … and that’s when I found these:

Hinges?! No way! I was now ready to screech in excitement! :D And, only $10.00, too?! It surely was my lucky day!

I turned this treasure around, and found it could do this:

Ta-Da! Isn’t that absolutely fantastic?! :D

So, of course, I didn’t set this down after having made the discovery… it was coming home with me, no matter what! The “books” are now sitting on my bookshelf among the others, and no one will be the wiser. ;)

I so enjoyed visiting the Farmer’s Market that I’ve decided we need our own, here in the town where I live. Mind you, I don’t think I’ll convince the people on the town council, but it’s certainly worth a shot! And, if I can’t convince them, I’ll just have to go visit my sister more often. ;)

ETA: I also bought a cool pair of earrings from one of the other vendors. They’re blue, and look like bunches of grapes. They only cost me $5! :D

I’m resolved to start frequenting our own Farmers’ Markets – although I doubt I’ll find anything as good as you have!

  4. I love our farmer’s market but how fun to find one with treasures as well as yummy food! localmarkets.org allows you to search by zip code to find markets near you.

  5. That’s awesome, except big hole in your logic: No one will be the wiser … UNLESS THEY READ YOUR BLOG!

And then they will be :)

  6. I love the cover of your teaser!

    Mine teaser is here:
