Musing Mondays (July 19)

July 19, 2010

This week’s musing asks…

What does your bookshelf (or, what do your bookshelves) say about you to the people who come into your home?

I think my bookshelves say that I’m an eclectic, avid reader.

I have books on many different subjects, as whenever I get inspired to learn about something, I start collecting books about it. For example, I went through a phase where I thought I wanted to be a psychologist, so I collected a bunch of books on Psychology. Then I went through my “want to be a Writer” phase, and collected books on the craft of Writing. Then — most recently — I got really inspired by health & fitness, so I collected a bunch of books in that genre, too (that’s still an ongoing phase).

I own over 1200 books, too, and no matter how many times I try to whittle my collection, it just grows again. You can view my collection HERE.

Of course, most people who see my collection just think I’m nuts. They wonder how on earth I can read so much, and where I find the time. And, they just don’t understand my passion. But, in all honesty, I don’t care. I love my books, I love reading, and there are worse evils out there. ;)

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Musing Mondays post, or share your answer in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks! :D

  2. Another question I had to think about, and take a look at my bookshelves. Here is my answer: http://annsreadingcorner.blogspot.com/

  3. I would have to say that my books say that I’m a combination of nerd and ‘romance/vampire/werewolf/Japan’-ness. I know it’s a hard title, but sometimes we must all learn to bear up under the burdens we’ve been given.

    BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

You can read the full extent of my random in my response -

  4. What a fabulous question! I like questions that force me to meditate and muse—hey, that’s why it’s called Musing Mondays! lol

But seriously, examining one’s behavior and coming to conclusions about it is most liberating, isn’t it?

I like yours and you do have a great collection of books.

  15. Before I organize books with new bookshelves, they probably didn’t impress my visitors. It was such a mess.

    My musing is up. :)

  16. This sounds like me…..

  17. Hey MizB, if we are wanting to take part in Monday Musings, is there someplace that we can sign up to get the weekly questions a day or two ahead of time?

Please be patient if your comment doesn't show up right away... I will 'release' it as soon as I can. Thanks for your thoughts! ~MizB
