Musing Mondays (Aug.2)

August 2, 2010

This week’s musing asks…

What book tops your TBR (to be read) pile right now? Is it something you own, or something you have to borrow, or something you’ll be purchasing? Why do you want to read it so badly?

Mine is probably one of the review books I just got, “Soul Custody” by Stephen W. Smith. Here’s the blurb from the publisher, David C. Cook’s, website:

Soul Custody calls readers to pay attention to the state of their soul-and free it to thrive.

Every day, inner and outer violence ravages the soul, leaving us weak, fearful, and malnourished. In Soul Custody, Stephen W. Smith presents eight choices to help readers reclaim custody of their one and only life-choices about silence, community, vocation, honoring the body, finding one’s true self, and more. As Smith reminds readers, allowing God to shape the soul leads to the deep, full, and satisfying life that God had in mind all along.

This is not a self-help book. It is not a book of easy steps to a happy life. It is an invitation to the life God dreams for each of His children. It is a call to start living-to let the soul wake up to life as God intended.

It just sounds like a really good book, and the chapter topics have caught my interest, so I can’t wait to read it! I’m praying it won’t disappoint (sometimes when I get all excited about a book, it tends to be a let-down, and that really bums me out!)

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Musing Mondays post, or share your answer in a comment here (if you don’t have a bl0g). Thanks! :D

No blog, but my next book to read is “Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.” by Sam Wasson about the making of the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, and the effect of “bad girl” Holly Golightly on the women of the 60′s. And, according to the blurb, “…changing fashion, film and sex for good.”
