REVIEW: “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” by Stephenie Meyer

August 27, 2010

Well, I didn’t find this book to be quite as good as the rest of the “Twilight” saga. This one is supposed to be an “Eclipse novella” (so says the cover, anyway). And it is… this is about Bree Tanner, one of the newborns created to be in Victoria’s army.

This book was weird in that it had no chapter breaks — it was just one continual story (178 pages). But, strange as that felt, I still enjoyed the book.

The associations between Bree & Diego, and Bree & Fred, were interesting, and kept things moving along. And, Ms. Meyer did her job in making you –the reader– constantly question whether or not Riley was telling the truth or lies.

I’d recommend this.

  1. I loved this book! I just couldn’t put it down! Lol and the fact that there were no chapter breaks didn’t help that cause :P

  2. I still think maybe will read it when can get a good used copy later on, does sound like I would probably enjoy the back story from Eclipse anyway so will wait and see…

glad you got to read it and it was not terrible anyway!

  3. I liked the story simply for the back story but disliked the fact that I knew Brees fate before hand. I didn’t like the lack of chapter breaks because when I had to put it down and pick it up again later I had to backtrack a little to get my bearings. I kind of wish I would have read it when she had it on her site in July before I bought it. But overall I likes the VCR the we learned some more of the character I already felt for. Meyer is good at character development and this just proves she has a talent that is growing.

Please be patient if your comment doesn't show up right away... I will 'release' it as soon as I can. Thanks for your thoughts! ~MizB
