The Sunday Salon (Aug.29)

August 29, 2010

This week wasn’t too bad. I worked on reading “Licensed for Trouble” by Susan May Warren, but then set it aside so I could quickly get to “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” by Stephenie Meyer (before its library due date). I’ll definitely get back to Susan’s book, though, as it was enjoyable, and I want to know what happens!

I bought two books from the local Value Village store, this week, and I can’t wait to read them:

The Art of Possibility” by Rosamund and Benjamin Zander
Description [from Amazon.ca]: Presenting twelve breakthrough practices for bringing creativity into all human endeavors, “The Art of Possibility” is the dynamic product of an extraordinary partnership. “The Art of Possibility” combines Benjamin Zander’s experience as conductor of the Boston Philharmonic and his talent as a teacher and communicator with psychotherapist Rosamund Stone Zander’s genius for designing innovative paradigms for personal and professional fulfillment. The authors’ harmoniously interwoven perspectives provide a deep sense of the powerful role that the notion of possibility can play in every aspect of life. Through uplifting stories, parables, and personal anecdotes, the Zanders invite us to become passionate communicators, leaders, and performers whose lives radiate possibility into the world.

…and…

The Fitness Instinct” by Peg Jordan
Description [from Amazon.ca]: Forget about spending mindless hours on the treadmill or hundreds of dollars on weight machines. In her revolutionary new book, Peg Jordan explains that you already have everything you need to get Healthy–the fitness instinct. The woman USA Today calls “a health trendspotter” has developed her philosophy from her world travels researching movement and exercise.

Her message is simple: listen to yourself. Stop letting “experts” tell you how you’re feeling. Instead, tap into your own instinctive knowledge about your fitness personality. Are you a racer, a stroller, a dancer, or a trekker? Each of these types needs special techniques for finding the right exercise plan.

Peg has the credentials to back up her studies–she is a certified nurse, nutritionist, and frequent guest on “The Today Show” and CNN. She was scriptwriter on fitness videos and infomercials for such celebrities and Cher, MTV, Kathy Smith, and Richard Simmons. She has seen the hard-core attitude at gyms across the country intimidate even the most determined people, and she’s here to put a stop to it. Peg Jordan will finally make fitness an instinctive, natural part of life.

Don’t they sound good? I have a bunch of library books I want to read, first, but then I’m going to dig into these two books, hopefully before the end of the year. :D

Don’t know how much time I’ll get to read, this coming week. My work schedule is pretty crazy, right now, what with the back-to-school rush. But, we’ll see. I’ve got a short break between review book due dates, so I’m going to dig into those above-mentioned library books this week. ;)
