Musing Mondays (Sept.6)
This week’s musing is about what’s most important to you!
I recently read this book called “One Month to Live: Thirty Days to a No-Regrets Life” by Kerry & Chris Shook. And, the book really made me think… It basically inspired today’s MM question:
If you knew you only had 30 days left to live, would books and reading still hold such a great priority in your life? Or, would you set aside your reading to do something else, spend more of your time elsewhere? What would you do, instead?
For me, the answer was obvious: If I only had 30 days left to live, my books would take a backseat, and family and friends would come first. Definitely. I would play more with my kids, and spend more time just sitting and talking with my hubby, or just being in the same room together (instead of always hiding myself off somewhere, reading).
I would make time to go out and have coffee (well, tea for me) with friends that I haven’t seen in a while. And, I would let them know how much I appreciate them, what an impact they’ve had on my life.
I think I might also try to really put into practice a few key things that I’ve learned from my reading over the years. Things like tossing the extraneous s-t-u-f-f in my life (things I hold on to for no other reason than sentimentality), and being still more often, instead of always needing to keep doing more.
While I really love my books, and my reading, I also realize that I’m missing out on a lot of “life” by always burying my nose inside the pages of the latest-and-greatest finds. I don’t feel as fulfilled as I would have hoped.
So, how about you?

Great Musing! And great answer

I see we are getting a little more philosophical this Monday.
Here is my Musing.
Here is what I would do:

I would definitely spend less time reading, and spend more time making contact with people i.e family friends etc.
I found I was like you, burying my head in a book at every spare moment. Now, I have a set time to read in the day. If it’s not that time, I don’t read. Even if I have a few minutes spare. I force myself to find something else to do i.e sending a friend an e.mail or calling someone; it really works. Now books/stories don’t take over my life,it just takes longer to finish a book…..but so what
I might read less…but not at all??? Well, let’s not go all crazy HERE!!
What a provocative question! I had to really consider what kinds of things you can pack into thirty days, and naturally, some revisions had to happen.
