New Beginnings Wednesdays (Sept.29)
((For the main post about this new WEEKLY EVENT, click here)).
To remind you of the way this works, here’s how to play:
First — post your list of New Years’ Resolutions in a post at your blog (or in the comments here, if you don’t have a blog).
Second — every week, on Wednesday, write a new post about how you’re doing with each of your goals … you’ll have to list them, again, each week, as people won’t remember what you’re working towards, otherwise. Be brief in your updates, as there may be several blogs to visit! ((come give a quick update here at Should Be Reading, if you don’t have a blog)).
Third — after you’ve written your update, come back to Should Be Reading, and share your link so that we –the other New Beginnings participants– can stop by your blog and encourage you!
Important! … It would be absolutely great if you could visit at least ONE other participant’s blog on Wednesdays and leave a comment on their post to share some encouragement for their efforts! Show your support! That’s what this event is all about — standing by each other to finally reach our goals!
My New Years’ Resolutions:
1. Move more. I plan to exercise for at least 15-30 minutes, 5 days per week. I’d like to work my way up to being able to jog, 3 days per week.
2. Eat less. I plan to follow my hunger cues to eat in moderation. No more mindless munching.
3. Shrink down. I’m aiming to lose about 45 lbs.
4. Read through the Bible in one year. I did this a couple of years ago, and found it really helped me to stay focused on what’s important. So, I’m trying it again.
5. Give up pop. I have been drinking way too much Coca-Cola, and it’s not helping my health any. So, I’m giving it –and all other sodas– up for good. They are just cans of chemicals, anyway, and I definitely need to stay away from the caffeine in them. So, no more pop.
Annnndddd… we’re back to the struggle.
Yep, I’ve fallen off, again. It’s been stressful, lately. I’m in a funk — I can’t even read (so you KNOW it’s bad!). I stopped exercising, I’ve been drinking Coke again (hubby bought a case for DD’s birthday party, and I finished it off), and I’m not really watching how much I eat — I’ve had ice cream too many times when not hungry, etc. I’m a mess. The only thing still mostly on track is my Bible-reading… I’m doing that consistently, again. At least for now.
I’m soooo tempted to just give up. At least until hubby is done school in June. Life is too crazy, and I just don’t feel like fighting this (weight) battle any more. Of course, I say that, and then I’ll read something, somewhere, that inspires me, and I keep going. Or, I think of all the cute outfits I have in my closet and can’t wear at the moment, and I get mad, and start trying to lose, again.
But, I’m getting so frustrated! And, yes, I know… Life will always throw stuff at me, so it will never NOT be crazy — I have to learn to push through that and keep going. But, it’s so hard! And, right now I just feel so overwhelmed.
SO, I don’t know. Maybe I’ll keep going, maybe not. Or, maybe I’ll just take this week off, anyway…
PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own NEW BEGINNINGS update, or share your progress in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks!

Sorry to hear you’re having such a hard time! I know how that is! Take a week off, or two if you need it. Reevaluate your goals (again and again if you need to! I know I’m doing that all the time!). Everything will turn out okay! I’ve actually updated this week! I know! I’m shocked, too!
I understand how difficult it is to give up the soda. My husband can’t stop drinking the Coke either but at least he’s switched to the caffeine free variety now. Have you seen this? Dr. Oz’s 28 Day National Soda Challenge.
No, I hadn’t seen that challenge, yet! Thank you so much for sharing the link!
