Musing Mondays (Oct.11)

First of all… Happy Thanksgiving to all of my Canadian readers!
This week’s musing is in honor of the holiday…
In regards to books, reading, the publishing industry, etc… What are you most grateful for? Why? Have you ever done anything to tangibly show your appreciation?
First of all, I think I’m most grateful just for the ability to read! I know that there are many, many people who cannot do so (probably more than we actually realize), and I think that’s terribly sad.
And, second, I believe I show my appreciation by reading & reviewing books, letting others know what great books are out there, and giving my opinion of what I’ve read.
Mind you, I think I’d really like to find a way to volunteer to help people learn how to read — be they children or adults. And, once I’m able, I’d like to regularly donate money to a charity that encourages literacy, and supports a life-long love of reading. I may choose the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation, as it’s Canadian, and easily accesible to me via the local Chapters bookstore.
Edited to add… I also am grateful for a lot of other things re: books & reading — the bookstores, the writers, people who encouraged my love of reading, the book-blogosphere, my book-crazed online friends, etc… There are just too many things to list! LOL
PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Musing Mondays post, or share your answer in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks!
