REVIEW: “The Tapestry of Love” by Rosy Thornton
Rosy has written a slow-paced story about Catherine Parkstone, a 40-something, divorced English woman who decides to pursue a dream in the Cévennes mountain region in France.
While Catherine is settling in to her new life in the French countryside, she is also struggling to get her new tapestry/upholstery business going. At the same time, she’s also making friends with her neighbors — Mr. & Mdme. Bouschet — and building a relationship with the local, Patrick Castagnol.
But, there are times, too, when Catherine questions whether she made the right decision. Her children are grown & building lives for themselves, but the isolation, and the dificulties of her new business, cause her to doubt.
Much as I think Ms. Thornton is a great writer, this book was just a bit too slowly-paced for me, and I couldn’t get right into it. I’d had higher hopes, given that I’d thoroughly enjoyed Rosy’s other book, Crossed Wires.
Either way, I know there are others who’d appreciate this story. I’m just sorry that I wasn’t one of them, at this time. Perhaps at a different point in my life, but not right now.
Rated: C

Rosy Thornton is mailing me this book, I am looking forward to reading and reviewing it. It sounds like it is my genre of book, therefore, I hope I enjoy it. Sometimes as you say, it may be a point in your life, that may be why you didn’t enjoy it. Also, if it isn’t the usually genre you read, that can have an effect also. I just read and reviewed Knit Two, it had mixed reviews, many reviewers loved it, but I didn’t care as much for it as the first book in the series. It’s hard to please all of us at the same time. ; )
I really enjoyed this one – it just had that quiet feel that I enjoy every now and again, and it honestly helped me to reflect a bit more on life in general and what I want to do. And definitely not to wait and procrastinate on the things that I want in life!
It was the quiet slow pace that I enjoyed with this one, actually. It made me want to go live a quiet life in some foreign country. I think it was the perfect read for me at the time- while dealing with a fussy baby.
