The Sunday Salon (Feb.20)
This week I’ve spent more time online than I have reading books. My focus has been off. I just haven’t felt like reading books. Plus, I’ve been out-and-about a lot, doing family stuff, or whatever. So instead, I’ve been reading blogs.
I recently found a bunch of Christian blogs that I’d not heard of before, so I’ve been visiting those, and reading through the posts. Here are a few that I like…
Chatting At the Sky ~ not necessarily new to me, as I’ve been reading this one, off & on, for a while. But, I love it. Emily writes so very well, and there are many times where just a sentence or two will jump out at me and inspire me.
Heart to Heart with Holley ~ new to me, and so good!
Nova Initia ~ I’ve been reading Hook’s blog for a while now, but he recently changed over to a new one, and I am really, really enjoying these new posts. Really finding a lot to relate to.
Moore to the Point ~ This one has some good stuff to it, but also some stuff that ruffles me a bit. So, I kind of skim through, and pick and choose.
(in)Courage ~ I love this blog! I’ve been reading this one for a while now, too, and I am drawn to it like a moth to a flame! There are various people that post there, and almost all of the posts are daily reminders of God’s love for us. This blog is like “comfort food” to me. I keep going back for more.
The Best Days of My Life ~ Sarah Markley writes about relationships and love. And, her blog is really inspirational. I’ve been enjoying the way she writes. Very candid and real.
And, lastly, author John Piper’s blog ~ lots to read and be inspired by there, too.
I got my “Made to Crave” teaching DVD in the mail, this week, finally! I now have the whole set ~ book, DVD, and participant’s guide.
((review coming soon!))
And, I was so excited when the book I ordered from Amazon.ca — “The Other Life” by Ellen Meister — showed up!
Lastly, I found out that I’m going to be receiving two of the books I’d asked to review: “A Trail of Ink” by Mel Starr, and “Lazarus Awakening” by Joanna Weaver. I can’t wait for that last one, especially, as it sounds like just the kind of thing I need, right now.
I will leave you with a description of Mel Starr’s “A Trail of Ink” [courtesy of Amazon.ca]:
Some valuable books have been stolen from Master John Wyclif, the well known scholar and Bible translator. He calls upon his friend and former pupil, Hugh de Singleton, to investigate. Hugh’s investigation leads him to Oxford where he again encounters Kate, the only woman who has tempted him to leave bachelor life behind, but Kate has another serious suitor. As Hugh’s pursuit of Kate becomes more successful, mysterious accidents begin to occur. Are these accidents tied to the missing books, or to his pursuit of Kate? One of the stolen books turns up alongside the drowned body of a poor Oxford scholar. Another accident? Hugh certainly doesn’t think so, but it will take all of his surgeon’s skills to prove.
So begins another delightful and intriguing tale from the life of Hugh de Singleton, surgeon in the medieval village of Bampton. Masterfully researched by medieval scholar Mel Starr, the setting of the novel can be visited and recognized in modern-day England. Enjoy more of Hugh’s dry wit, romantic interests, evolving faith, and dogged determination as he pursues his third case as bailiff of Bampton.

I have times like that when I’m just not up for reading. I’m going to be checking out those blogs. Thanks for sharing them!
