The Sunday Salon (Feb.27)
Do you ever get really frustrated by the fact that there just isn’t enough time to get everything read that you want to read?
Lately, because I’ve got less reading time than I used to have, I am getting really bothered by this. I lie on my bed and stare at my books, and think, “Man, I want to read that one, and that one, and that one — plus those ones from the library. And, I need to get those review books read… but, UGH! There just isn’t enough time to get it all read!” ((sigh))
I want to read Alex Flinn’s “fairy tales” this year: “Beastly“, “A Kiss in Time“, and “Cloaked“… all of which I’ll be borrowing from the local library (well, the first two anyway; have to wait & see if the library will order a copy of the newest one). But, when I think of getting around to these, I feel frustrated, ’cause I think I won’t have enough time. I’m barely fitting in the other books I want to read, because I have maybe an hour or two each night, and then the weekends… but on the weekends, I end up spending more time on the computer, and then don’t get the reading in that I want to. And, that just leaves me more frustrated.
(anyone else thinking that I need to set better priorities? LOL)
Sorry if all I do on here, any more, is rant about not having enough time to read… I’m hoping that I will eventually not feel that way any more. I’m hoping I’ll figure out how to fit it all in. But, as of yet, I haven’t figured it out.
Mind you, that doesn’t mean I’m not finishing books! LOL. I just got “Lazarus Awakening” by Joanna Weaver in the mail, on Thursday, and I finished it Friday night. Great book! [you can read my review here]
I’ve now started into “A Trail of Ink” by Mel Starr, which will have a FIRST Wild Card blog tour here on March 10th. While it started off a little slow, I find that I’m now getting into it and want to know what’s going to happen. Of course, its being about some stolen books makes it that much more intriguing.
I have to say that, much as I enjoy the fact that my kids are in sports (hockey & figure skating), I will be very glad to have those activities end in a month! Then I’ll not be out running several nights per week, and I might have more time to read.
It’s a good thing that I don’t really watch TV (aside from Lost Girl on Sunday nights)… if I did, I would never have any time for reading! Especially since I love surfing the Internet, reading & writing blogs… that eats up enough of my time, as it is! ;)
Along with “Lazarus Awakening” by Joanna Weaver, and “A Trail of Ink” by Mel Starr, I also got in the mail, this week, a copy of “The Titus Mandate” by Ted Bigelow (one copy, for my mom — my copy has yet to arrive), and “86,400” by Lavaille Lavette.
I’m still waiting for “Lucky” by Glenn Packiam, another review book.

I use to feel frustrated everytime I looked at my bookshelves, and each time I came home with a bag of books I got more frustrated. Well, I set myself down one day and decided to stop fretting and start reading, At first I put a pile on my nightstand in the order I was going to read them. I no longer have to do that, now I just read one book at a time and reach for a book on my bookshelf and read it. I am slowly getting them read, but I am always bringing home more books. I am trying to break myself of that habit, but I don’t think it is working. Hehehe..
Oh I like the cover of A Trail of Ink! Look forward to reading your review of that – but no rush. Just spend time reading first
I have this problem. And I spend time reading review sites (hehe) to get ideas for more books to read, which means I’m on my computer even more and when I could be spending that time reading…never ending cycle.
Exactly! SHOULD be reading!
Hee hee…
I have the same problem too. I am out of bookshelf space and have more books on my TBR than I think I will ever be able to read. I have not been able to read like I used to either and it is so frustating. I have huge stacks of books around me in my room and I am dying to read most of them.
Thanks, guys! I am SO GLAD to know I’m not alone in this feeling!!!
I identify with this post — I have over one thousand TBR books on my bookshelves and now I’m collecting e-books. I read around 150 books in a year, but that’s not enough to whittle down the backlog, particularly since I’m still acquiring new (or new-to-me) books. One way that I fit in extra reading time is that I read in the car — hubby is driving — and I don’t have TV or the Internet competing for my attention.
Speaking of the library and Alex Flinn’s books, just ask them to locate a copy for you from a nearby library. My librarian is very helpful in borrowing books from other libraries in the consortium or reaching wider with Interlibrary Loan.
