REVIEW: “The Fury” and “Dark Reunion” by L. J. Smith
“The Vampire Diaries” by L. J. Smith, books 3 and 4. Since this was a compilation volume, I’m going to review it as one book…
The continuing saga of Elena Gilbert and her two vampires, Stefan and Damon. There was a lot going on in these books! The way Ms. Smith writes suspense is very good. I got so caught up every time there was a “danger” scene, with someone in trouble. Even though I knew they had to make it out okay, I still worried… which makes me see this as a well-written book.
And, even though I could sort of figure out who was at the heart of things in both stories, I still needed to keep reading to see how things would play out… and to see if I was even right.
I really enjoyed this series. I know there are a couple of other books now — Stefan’s Diaries. I might read those, but I’m not sure. For now, I just know that I enjoyed the four books I’ve read, so far, and definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a quick “vampire” series. These books aren’t hard to read, but they’re not all complete fluff, either — there are some deep questions at the heart of the series, and they especially come to play in this last book (#4, “Dark Reunion“).
Rated: B+

Woot! Looking forward to them. Thanks!
I’ve been looking forward to getting round to reading these.

Stefan’s Diaries isn’t written by L. J. Smith, but The Return is (: The Return takes of some days after Dark Reunion ends.
I’ve read all 7 of the books and I like the Return Series better than the first four books. They are a bit longer than the first four books but the suspense and story in them is just awesome!! And they’re from Damon’s point of view which makes them a whole lot better! (I’m in love with Damon =P) I think you should definitely read them too (if you haven’t already). Unlike Stefan’s Diaries, they are written by L.J. Smith too. And the TV series are so great! You should totally watch it too! Enough gloating about TVD =P Happy reading!
