The Sunday Salon (Mar.27)
I’m noticing a pattern these days… a weekend comes, and I finish books. LOL. It’s my only real time to read, so it makes sense! I read a bit every night that I can, but the majority of my reading gets done on the weekends.
Mind you, this past Friday, I had the day off. And, oh man, was it ever wonderful! There were no kids or hubby home so I had the house to myself, and the sun was shining, I got some housework done… and I got to sit and just read for hours! I finished reading book 4 of “The Vampire Diaries: Dark Reunion“. Good book! I highly recommend the series, so long as you’re just looking for a lighter read.
Now I’m reading “unChristian” by David Kinnamen & Gabe Lyons, and will hopefully have that finished by later this afternoon. I only have a couple more chapters to go.
Next up, I plan to dig into N.T. Wright’s “After You Believe“… here’s the book description from Amazon.ca:
From the author of the acclaimed Simply Christian and Surprised by Hope comes a book that addresses the question that has plagued humans for centuries—what is our purpose? As Christians, what are we to do with that ambiguous time between baptism and the funeral? It’s easy to become preoccupied with who gets into heaven; the real challenge is how we are going to live in the here and now.
Wright dispels the common misconception that Christian living is nothing more than a checklist of dos and don’ts. Nor is it a prescription to “follow your heart” wherever it may lead. Instead, After You Believe reveals the Bible’s call for a revolution—a transformation of character that takes us beyond our earthly pursuit of money, sex, and power into a virtuous state of living that allows us to reflect God and live more worshipful, fulfilling lives.
We are all spiritual seekers, intuitively knowing there is more to life than we suspect. This is a book for anyone who is hoping there is something more while we’re here on Earth. There is. We are being called to join the revolution, and Wright insightfully encourages readers to find new purpose and clarity by taking us on an eye-opening journey through key biblical passages that promise to radically alter the work of the church and the direction of our lives.
I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of my next review book, “Revise Us Again” by Frank Viola… should be here soon, as I got an email saying the books had shipped out last week. Don’t you just LOVE the cover? For someone like me, who is obsessed with crazy about notebooks, and loves reading, it’s the perfect combination! LOL
I was looking through my bookshelves, the other day, and thinking about what I’m going to read, once my review books are done. Well, since I only have two more to get through (in April), I am hoping to get to some of the books that have been sitting on my shelves, waiting, for a long time… as well as a couple of my new books, too. Books like: “Blue Like Jazz” by Donald Miller, “Bathsheba” by Jill Eileen Smith (new), “Chasing Daylight” by Erwin McManus, “Closer Than Your Skin” by Susan D. Hill, “Soulprint” by Mark Batterson (new), and “The Crimson Rooms” by Katherine McMahon (new).

Reading times are the best!
