REVIEW: “Reshaping It All” by Candace Cameron Bure

May 10, 2011

(read on my Kobo eReader)

Candace Cameron Bure used to play “DJ Tanner” on the television show “Full House“. I watched her on that show for years, growing up, as part of TGIF Fridays. :D

So, I was really excited to see that (1) she’d written a book, and (2) she’s a Christian! :D

This book is part memoir, and part weight loss advice. Candace tells the story of how she went from suffering from bulimia, to finding freedom through the hunger/fullness method of eating less. She also incorporates exercise (she loves Pilates), and chooses healthier foods when she does eat.

I loved that, throughout the book, Candace has included some of her family’s favorite recipes. They all look like they’ll be really easy to throw together, AND they’ll taste good (turkey tacos, anyone?). She also includes fan mail, along with her answers at the end of each chapter. And, there’s a whole slew of photographs of Candace in the middle of the book. ;)

I definitely recommend this book! Candace’s words are really motivating and inspirational. And, I’m a huge fan of the hunger/fullness method — it’s what I use myself — so I can’t help but love that she uses it, too!

  1. Great review!–I used to watch Full House, too–And I remember her losing a lot of weight, but didn’t realize she suffered from eating disorders, because she still looked healthy–not wasting away like Tracy Gold–which is kind of interesting, because Candace’s brother Kirk was on Growing Pains with Tracy.

–Also, I know Kirk is pretty well-known right now for being a Christian, so it kind of makes sense that they both are, since they’re family.

Do you watch Make It or Break It?–It’s a new(ish) series about teen gymnastics–Candace plays “Summer,” who is also a Christian.–And one of the other characters is currently dealing with an eating disorder. I really like seeing Candace on tv again–I think she seems to have grown up really well, and it’s nice to see her as a very positive character, but also how Candace (and/or the creators) have turned the character of “Summer” from just kind of a cameo, into a very interesting character with a very interesting storyline!

    • No, I haven’t seen “Make It or Break It“, though Candace mentions it in the book. I read more than I watch TV. ;)

  2. I sent the kindle edition of this book to my daughter who grew up watching Full House. She loved the book!

  3. Sounds like a fun book. I used to love Full House.

  4. I was wondering why she was on one of the talk shows this morning.

Please be patient if your comment doesn't show up right away... I will 'release' it as soon as I can. Thanks for your thoughts! ~MizB
