REVIEW: “Something Borrowed” by Emily Giffin
I soooooo can’t wait to see this movie! And, I hadn’t intended on reading the book… but, I just couldn’t help myself!
The funny thing is, I’ve seen this book around the Internet probably a million times, in recent years. It wasn’t until I saw the movie trailer for it that I had any bit of interest. Why? I don’t know. But, now I’m crazy in love with it! I read it within 24 hours — yes, spent most of today with my nose buried in this book — and just couldn’t put it down.
From the previews of the movie trailer, I can already tell they’ve taken some liberties and changed a few things. But, that’s okay — it’s bound to happen when you convert a book to a movie. Either way, it hasn’t changed my wanting to see the movie. But, I have to wait ’til it comes out on DVD, as I have no one to go with, right now, and can’t really afford it, anyway.
Kind of reminds me of “When Harry Met Sally” in some ways. But, not all ways. I’m glad that things went the way they did with the book, though. I was worried… but overall, it was a really satisfying read. Definitely recommended!
Rated: A+

The last time I was shopping I almost bought this book. Now after your review, I know I will get it to read. I always like reading the book first, before I watch the movies, and I will be waiting until it comes on TV before I see the movie anyway. I like Kate Hudson, so I know I will be seeing the movie sometime in the future. Nice review.
The movie is really cute! It’s been awhile since I read the book so I can’t remember all of the details they may’ve changed, but it does a pretty good job of telling the story.
All of Giffin’s books are great, you’ll have to check the second book out…it’s called Something Blue and the focus is on Darcy.
I started reading it — there was a preview (intro and part of chapter 1) in the back of my copy of this book. So, yeah. I’ll probably get it to read at some point.
I enjoyed the book and am definitely going to see the movie. It looks cute to me even if it got bad reviews – what do the critics know!
I’m going to see the movie tomorrow! I haven’t read this one yet but I did read another by Giffin, um, the name eludes me but I gobbled it up in one day. Giffin has away of doing that to you.
I just saw a trailer for this! I so want to see it now!!! Didn’t know it was based on a book-I don’t think I’ve read anything by Emily Giffin. Yet. Thanks for this post!
I just finished this yesterday. Loved it and the movie!
I thought the movie was really cute, and now I’m looking forward to reading the book–Also, I just saw that there’s a sequel, Something Blue.
and for anyone who hasn’t seen the movie yet, make sure you stay through the credits because they have some extras at the end!!!
I’ve just seen this movie advertised and it certainly looks like my kind of movie… although not sure it’s really husband’s cup of tea. I might end up there by myself!!! But first I think I’ll read the book – it sounds great!
So I should definately read the book first.
Thanks for making this an easier decision for me of read book, watch movie or both.
I just read the book and I really liked it. I’ll probably wait to watch the movie until it comes out on Netflix!
I have this in my huge book stash and want to read it this summer. I will probably watch the move on dvd after it comes out but will read the book first.
