REVIEW: “Mistress of Rome” by Kate Quinn

May 30, 2011

Thea is a young, Jewish slave living in Rome. And, her life changes when she meets, and falls in love with, a gladiator named Arius the Barbarian.

From there, Thea’s life takes several different turns, not all of them good. But, it all has a purpose.

I LOVED this book! Couldn’t put it down, and finished all 470 pages in 2 days. ;) There was a ton of stuff going on – many plot lines – and I am positive that the characters in this story are going to stick with me for a very long time.

I can’t tell you how stunned I am that (1) this is the author’s FIRST novel, and (2) she wrote it in 4 months!!!

It’s epic… and I highly recommend it! Can’t wait to read the sequel, “Empress of the Seven Hills“, due out next Spring (2012)!
