The Sunday Salon (June 26)
This past week, I’ve been on a reading roll! Well, at least the last 3 days. I’ve finished 3 books in 3 days! I love it when I can do that!
First was “The Vice-Busting Diet” by Julia Griggs Havey. Smart, sensible plan for making small, but continuous changes to your habits in order to overhaul your life and make it healthier. I like the idea of making just one change at a time.
Second was “So You Don’t Want to Go to Church Any More” by Wayne Jacobsen. I’d been wanting to read this one for a while — and I’m glad I finally finished it! Good stuff inside!
And, last night I finally finished “A Race to Splendor” by Ciji Ware. I really enjoyed it! But, for some reason, I kept setting it aside to pick up other books. Maybe it was the 500+ pages that made it seem daunting. But, I spent the majority of yesterday reading non-stop, and I finally got through it. Definitely recommended. I’ll probably seek out more by that author.
Now I’m starting on “Let God Change Your Life” by Greg Laurie. It’s a review book, but not due ’til August. Either way, I want to get it done now, and then have time for the other books that will hopefully be coming soon (see my Blog Tours page for the other titles).
I’m frustrated by Canada Post (CP), right now. The workers had been on a rotating strike — so we were still getting our mail. But, then the CP higher-ups decided to lock out their workers… meaning mail delivery completely stopped.
Now, though, the government is trying to pass back-to-work legislation. But, it’s taking time because the NDPs are trying to stall in order to let the workers and CP continue their talks, and try to come to a settlement. While I appreciate that they want to give the people more time to work things out — and I hope that the workers can get what they need — I also want my mail delivery back!
I thought it was really considerate of them to do rotating strikes, in order to keep the mail delivery from being disrupted too much … but I was NOT happy when CP locked out their workers, thereby completely cutting off the mail. Grrr… Stupid move, if you ask me. It didn’t help matters.
Anyway. Needless to say, most of my review books are in limbo, thanks to this lockout. I got one, thanks to UPS delivery — which, thankfully, is still available. But, there are about 3 or 4 other books that I’m waiting on, and now I might not get them as quickly. One, for sure, is going to be late for its tour (“Wiki Church” by Steve Murrell — tour is July 6th, and I haven’t yet gotten my book).
Edited to add: I ordered my books from Amazon, this past week! I can’t wait!… but I’ll have to. Says delivery date will be sometime after the second week in July. Oh well. At least I know the books are coming.
And, thankfully, Amazon is using UPS/FedEx to get their books out, so I won’t have to worry about the postal strike for that!
New books coming: “The Home Owner’s Manual” by Dan Ramsey | “Vixen” by Jillian Larkin | “One Day” by David Nicholls | “Simply Earrings: 20 Beaded Projects” (Lark Crafts) | and “It’s All Too Much” by Peter Walsh.

That’s crazy about your mail.
Sorry to hear that. Maybe it will cheer you up a little to hear that I have passed 3 awards on to you: The Irresistibly Sweet, Stylish and Versatile Awards!
