Musing Mondays (July 25)

July 25, 2011

This week’s musing asks…

Do you need to have your owned books out where you can see them, or are you okay with them being stored away?

Personally, I really prefer to have my books out where I can see them. Right now, since we don’t have a lot of space (or, perhaps, because I have more books than fit in our tiny space! LOL), I have had to put a bunch of my books into Rubbermaid totes out in the garage. And, I absolutely hate that! I have also had to “double-stack” my books on the shelves, so there are some “hiding” behind the others, and I hate that, too!

I can’t wait ’til I have my own “library” room, where I can have bookshelves lining all of the walls, and have all of my books out, single-stacked, so I can organize them (alphabetical, and by genre) and keep them where I can see them all at once. :D

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own own Musing Mondays post, or share your answer in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks! :D

  1. I prefer having books on display, but space is a big issue. It’s gotten to the point where on some shelves in my garage I’ve double layered books (I wouldn’t do this inside the house where more prized books are displayed). I also have some books packed away in boxes which is bad because they are not very accessible.

  10. Hi MizB,

We have booksehelves in every available space in our home, as we both love to read, but I still have many that are double stacked, even tripled in some cases!!

We have worked out that between us (I read fiction, he reads non-fiction), we have approx 1,200 books and counting…!!

I can’t imagine my life without books and my ultimate dream would be to have my own mn library, complete with a set of library steps!!! dream on

  11. I’ve caught up with the last 4 weeks with this post:

    Good question!
I like having my books where I can see them some of mine are stored away .
I’m doing some redecorating at the moment ,slow process doing it bit by bit!
Hopefully at the end I’ll have all my books on shelves where I can see them.

  13. I have some in storage under the stairs and I hate it because I forget what I have! Ideally all my books would be displayed on built-in shelves, library style, all in one big cozy reading room/library. I could go on about this dream room, but I’ll save that for another time.

  14. I have a majority of my books in bins under my bed to save space. When I have read all the ones on my night stand, I look through my bins and collect the books I wanna read and then put them on my night stand. And repeat.

  15. We have all our books on bookshelves throughout the house where we can see them. My Bible and devotional book I am currently using is on my table in my den, handy!

  16. All books out for the world to see.
    My full answer is posted.

Please be patient if your comment doesn't show up right away... I will 'release' it as soon as I can. Thanks for your thoughts! ~MizB
