REVIEW: “Sifted” by Rick Lawrence

August 27, 2011

This book takes the Scripture verses of Luke 22:31-32, and breaks them down, bit by bit. It takes a look at why a good God would allow Satan to “sift” us. It examines the goodness of God in contrast with His more volatile moments.

I really wanted to like this book, but I found it frustrating me to the point that I gave up reading it at page 169 (out of 261), and skimmed the last chapters.

There were parts I really found helpful, sure; parts where I saw something in a new light; parts that made an impact on me. But, too often, I found myself being irked by the way things were written out, and I felt there were too many theological “red flags” for my liking.

I know of several people who might really enjoy this book, though. So I’m going to pass it on.

  1. I often find my myself having some theological issues with Biblical-based books and how the authors tend to interpret them, so I completely understand not being able to finish

Please be patient if your comment doesn't show up right away... I will 'release' it as soon as I can. Thanks for your thoughts! ~MizB
