REVIEW: “Heiress” by Susan May Warren
This first book in the Daughters of Fortune series features the Price sisters, Jinx & Esme, daughters of newspaper magnate, August Price.
One of the sisters longs to be free of society’s rules and regulations… she wants to work and make a name for herself. The other sister would happily take her place in society, and longs to be married and run a household.
But, oh, how life has a way of twisting and turning and bringing you to places you never dreamed you’d go.
Susan May Warren always has a way of writing that makes me not want to put the book down. She has written romances, mysteries, and now a historical romance, and she does it all very, very well. I loved that this installment had a lot of romance, and even love-triangles! And, I loved those!
Jinx’s story, especially, pulled at my heartstrings. I found myself better able to relate to her, in some ways. But, Esme’s story also had its moments. I felt sorry for both sisters, but probably more so for Esme.
At times, I could see what was coming. But, that didn’t detract from the story in any way, shape or form. Susan did the suspense just right, and the romantic tension was palpable.
Overall, I would highly recommend this book, and I’m looking forward to reading book two in the series, “Baroness“, when it comes out.

I’m reading this one now and agree with every word you said. Jinx is a more well-rounded and easier to relate to.
