REVIEW: “Intertwined” by Gena Showalter
Soooo glad that someone recommended I read this one immediately! Good book!
Aden Stone is not your average teenager. He has four other human souls living within him, which causes him to look like he’s talking to himself, which means he’s been in and out of mental institutions for years.
Currently, Aden is living at the D & M Ranch, a home for wayward boys, and wondering if he’ll ever be free to live a quiet, normal life.
Then Aden meets Mary Ann, and the world he thought he knew has just expanded. The same is true for Mary Ann… she is seeing things she never thought were possible, and this is bringing her out of her shell. Together, they work to find a way to free the souls living inside of Aden, while fighting to keep themselves alive.
I really enjoyed this book — couldn’t put it down, actually. There were vampires, werewolves, fairies, goblins, and zombies! Wow. At first, this seemed a little unrealistic. But, eventually, you just go with it.
The ‘voices’ in Aden’s head were a little much to get used to in the beginning, too. But that, too, I eventually got over, and just took as part of the book.
There were twists I didn’t see coming, but also times when I guessed what would happen. Either way, it didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the story, and I’m really looking forward to continuing with the series! (I’d do so immediately if book 2 could get here from the library that fast, and if I didn’t have one last review book to read first).
