Musing Mondays (Oct.11)

October 10, 2011

 This week’s musing asks…

What types of nonfiction do you read? Can do multiple choices.

CHOICES:

- e-books
- Mythology/Folklore
- Travel/Locations
- Humor
- History
- Art, including art history
- Science including forensics
- Gardening/Nature
- Political
- Financial/Economical
- Religious
- Self-help
- How-to books
- Books on writing
- Audio books
- Biography
- Autobiography
- Sports
- Architecture
- Fitness/Exercise/Nutrition/Beauty
- Other
- None of the Above

I read a lot of nonfiction, so I’d have to say I choose from the following: Religious | Self-Help | How-To | Books on Writing | Health & Fitness.

I also like memoirs if they deal with weight loss, pregnancy, or writing.

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Musing Mondays post, or share your answer in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks! :D

I read a lot of travel (Vintage Departures) and also science. Richard Dawkins, Stephen Jay Gould kind of thing. I loved 1491 but don’t usually read history. I read books on books such as Nicholas Basbanes. Frances

  2. An interesting question, one that reminded me that I should read more non-fiction. http://danicapage.blogspot.com/2011/10/musing-mondays-3.html

Will be going through and checking out your posts. Can’t wait to see what you guys are reading.

  3. I read travel & food memoirs, plus humor & history with some occasional mythology thrown in.

  4. I read non-fiction categories that are related to fiction and literature. My full answer is posted.

  5. I love your choices! Most of mine are the same, but I can never read Self-Help books. I always go into a funny state of denial XD

    Here’s mine! http://princesspandoryss.blogspot.com/2011/10/meme-musing-mondays-4.html

  6. Here’s my Musing I’m so more fiction than nonfiction

  7. Great Question! This helped me think about what I really enjoy reading!! http://bookishlybloggers.blogspot.com/2011/10/musing-mondays-1010.html

  8. I love reading history . . . the most memorable history book I’ve read recently is Empire of the Summer Moon, by S. C. Gwynne; it’s about the Comanche Indians and is one of those wonderful history books that reads in many ways like a novel.

Another great non-fic book I highly recommend is The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook. Anyone who has any sort of muscle or joint pain should pick up a copy IMO — I thought my fingers were getting arthritic, for instance, so imagine my astonishment when massaging some painful points in my forearms completely “cured” the stiffness and pain in my fingers . . .

  9. I read a lot of different kinds of non-fiction, too! Mostly anthropology, since that’s my major, haha, and I have to read books for classes. I’m interested in a wide variety of topics, though, and my bookshelves reflect that.

I don’t really read much politics, though, and I’m not really into sports.

  10. Check out my teaser from Half Blood :D

    (YA BOOK THAT ROCKS!)

  11. That’s a rather heartbreaking teaser. My teaser is on Coldheart Canyon by Clive Barker: http://www.knittingandsundries.com/2011/10/teaser-tuesdays-october-11-2011.html

Please be patient if your comment doesn't show up right away... I will 'release' it as soon as I can. Thanks for your thoughts! ~MizB
