Musing Mondays (Oct.31)

October 31, 2011

First of all…Happy Halloween to all of my readers! Are you dressing up today??? As what? I have one of those masquerade masks-on-a-stick (with feathers sticking out the top) to take to work, plus my fingernails are bright orange, and my outfit is all black. ;)

 This week’s musing asks…

Would you say that you read about the same amount now as when you were younger? More? Less? Why?

I definitely read more now than I did when I was younger. As a teenager, I read a book once in a while… whenever the mood struck,  or whenever I had to for school. I preferred watching television.

When I hit my early twenties, and was a new stay-at-home mom, I started to read more ’cause I was bored while the baby slept, and needed something other than TV. And, things kind of snowballed from there.

Nowadays, I read an average of 72 books per year! And, when I can’t, it feels like I’ve lost part of myself. I am all-books, all the time now. Whenever I get free time, if I’m not on my computer, I’m lying on the bed, reading a book. Why? Because it’s soooo much more interesting than what’s on TV these days (IMHO). ;)

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Musing Mondays post, or share your answer in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks! :D

  3. I read more now than when I was a kid. It just became my passion because of the self help books I read going through a nasty divorce.

  6. I’ve always been a bookworm – so I’d say that I pretty much read as much as I used to read. I even read much the same genre – fantasy and mysteries mostly.
    :)

  7. I wish I could dress up! But sadly my boss is a stick in the mud!

Reading keeps me sane in this chaotic world.

  9. I didn’t keep track back then but I’m guessing about the same, maybe a bit more since I don’t have to ask for a ride to or from the library but can take myself there whenever I want.
I read about a dozen new books a month, maybe as few as 7 if it is a busy month but I average 100-120 new books a year & maybe half again that much in rereads

  10. I so agree with you about nothing I enjoy much on TV anymore. I much prefer reading.
