God-Sized Dreams: Fears
This coming week’s question from Holley to the God-Sized Dream Team asks…
What’s one fear you’ve faced when it comes to your God-sized dream? And what’s the truth that’s bigger than that fear?
Oh, goodness, I have so many fears! There are two big ones, regarding these God-Sized Dreams, though.
The first is that I will have success with the weight loss thing, only to turn around and put all of the weight back on, again, like I did the last time I had any success with this. And, it’s so frustrating to know that I was where I wanted to be, and now I’ve got to go through it all again to get back to that point. Once I lose the weight again, I never want to have to come so far back up!
The truth that’s bigger than that fear is Romans 8:37 which says “…we are MORE than conquerers through Him who loved us.“
The other fear is that of writing. There are a ton of fears that I have surrounding this one (not limited to rejection, AND fear of success!). But, the general fear is that I’m just not good enough to play with the big writers… those already published, or those who’ve gone to school for this. I just feel so very inadequate, like who would ever want to read what I have to say? But see, there’s a lie right there… as it won’t be me that’s saying things, but God who wants to say something through me.
My truth for this one includes two verses: 2 Peter 1:3 says, “…God has given us everything we need for a godly life...” and Exodus 4:11-12, which says, “Then the Lord asked Moses, ‘Who makes man’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord? Now, go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.” (NLT)
{and yes, I realize that this question asked for one fear, but it also is talking to those who have only one God-Sized dream, no? I have 5 that I’m working on! LOL}

I understand your fear of writing…although I’ve heard all writers, no matter their level or popularity struggle with that. I love Ann Voskamp and her words to writers and bloggers. Each voice is different and needs to be heard. No one else has your voice or words! You have a story to tell, we need to hear it. There is only one you!
Thanks so much for the encouragement, Ashley. Much appreciated.
Keep going, friend! We can relate to your fears and we are with you! XO
I feel you on both fears. Keep going because yours is a story that I can so relate to. Praying for you as you reach for your dreams!
