The Sunday Post (Dec. 29)

SundayPost_Kimba_CaffinatedReviewerChristmas has come & gone … and the year is almost gone, too. I hope everyone had a very safe & happy holiday!

Do you have plans for New Years’ Eve?

We do the same thing every NYE … we stay home, make steak & seafood-stuffed mushroom caps, watch a couple of movies, watch the Ball drop in Times Square on TV, then head for bed. It’s nice to not have to go out. I like our home-based tradition. šŸ˜‰

I got a TON of books over the holiday! You’ll see which ones, tomorrow — I’m sharing them in my Musing Mondays post.

I’ve spent time working over the holiday, too, despite the fact that I wanted to take a couple of days off. I had some deadlines to meet, so I’ve been hard at work … though, I did manage to stop for a bit to enjoy my family.

For the new year, I’m debating on what I want to do with my blog. It’s getting harder and harder to keep up with my memes. But I don’t want to cancel them, given so many people enjoy them. What I might do, then — I haven’t decided yet — is post the memes, but without an answer from myself. We’ll see. Again, this is still undecided.

I’m very much hoping that, come the new year, I can get better at time management. So far, I’m sucking at it. LOL. I work-work-work, and have next to no “me” time any more … put it this way: I usually read 75 books in a year. But for 2013, I only managed to get in 37. šŸ˜¦

2014So yeah… definitely need to work on that. I also want to go back to working on my health, so I need to find time to exercise, too. I plan on losing this extra weight for once and for all in 2014, so things definitely have to change!

I’ll do a separate post with my goals, but for now, those are the thoughts running through my head in regards to the new year.

RichardsonRyan_SavingFacebookCurrently reading “The Effortless Yes” by Julie Steelman, “Plug Your Book” by Steve Weber, and “Saving Face (book)” by my friend, Ryan Richardson… when I get the chance to read, anyway. Next up will –hopefully– be “While Beauty Slept” by Elizabeth Blackwell, and one of my other new Kindle eBooks (not sure which, yet).

Happy Reading, everyone!

  1. I sympathise Miz B and as much as I love your Memes everyone needs time for themselves. It must be really hard launching your new business. My diet and exercise plan needs to get started in 2014 otherwise I’ll be having to buy a new wardrobe of clothes (but I’d much rather be reading!)

    • Yes, launching a business is a lot of work. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world, seriously! I’ve wanted to have my own business for as long as I can remember… I am fiercely independent, so I’ve always felt that I would be a great entrepreneur. šŸ˜‰

I will do what I have to do… but the memes will continue. No worries there.

Good luck with your diet & exercise plans! Have you heard of “Intuitive Eating”? It’s my fave method…

      (and for exercise, I use

        • Oh, it is! It’s really very natural — if you watch any young child (under the age of 2), this is how they eat. We were programmed with signals that tell us when to eat, and when we’ve had enough to refuel. And, over the years (with media, and parents telling us to “clean our plates”), we lose touch with those signals. “Intuitive Eating” is just a return to listening. šŸ˜‰

  2. I agree with “Cleopatralovesbooks”. We all need time to ourselves, and like the old saying goes: “A girls’ gotta do what a girls’ gotta do.” I hope your new business is a success in 2014. Read when you have a few minutes, and enjoy what you have time for, and don’t concentrate on the number of books you read, but just enjoy the ones you have time for.

    • Thanks so much for your kind words… I appreciate that. And you’re totally right… it shouldn’t be about how many books I finish — but about how much I enjoy the ones I DO get to read. šŸ˜‰ Thank you for that reminder! I’ve spent so many years in “challenges” where I had to hit a certain goal, that it’s kind of ingrained in me now. LOL

Time for a change-up. My new goal: Read as many books as I have time for, but make sure they are QUALITY reads that I really love. šŸ˜‰

  3. New Years is a movie and a pizza. It probably will be two movies, as I am going to one late in the morning. Don’t pressure yourself with how many your reading and blogging; if you need to put a bit more time into your business, then that is what you need to do šŸ™‚ Hope you have a good new year (that steak sounds wonderful!)

    • May not be steak after all, as our temps here are supposed to be a bit below freezing — and that doesn’t make for good bbq weather. Sooo, we’re trying to find an alternative that would still go good with the seafood-stuffed mushrooms. LOL

Pizza would be good (NOT with the mushroom caps, though!). But we’ve had a lot of pizza lately. So it’ll have to be something else. We’ll see.
