Teaser Tuesdays (Aug. 19)

TeaserTuesdays3

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

SpangleLinda_FriendsWithTheScaleMy Teasers:

“Most people understand that changes in a human body take time, and not seeing results doesn’t mean things aren’t happening. But sometimes we forget this, and after trying so hard to lose weight, we stomp off to eat a bag of cookies because the scale hasn’t moved.”

~ p. 55, “Friends With the Scale” by Linda Spangle

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your ‘teasers’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks! :D

    • Taking measurements seems to help, too… far more accurate than just going by how things “look”, or a number on the scale.

Nevertheless, I’ve learned (over many years) that exercise without a change in my eating will never work to help me shed pounds. Now, when I do exercise, I do it more for my heart health, stamina, and just to feel good, overall, than I do for weight loss.

  2. A big problem with people trying to lose weight is that they don’t realize that as they exercise, muscle is built and muscle weighs more than fat. Also, while the scale provides one means of tracking exercise goals, it’s not the best one.

Here’s my teaser from “Searching for Dragons”, book two of “The Enchanted Forest Chronicles” by Patrica C. Wrede: http://pubwrite.wordpress.com/2014/08/19/teaser-tuesday-searching-for-dragons-the-enchanted-forest-chronicles-book-2/

  3. Hi MizB,

Yep! Your teaser lines definitely sum up my relationship with my body exactly!

I love the opening line taken from the Goodreads synopsis for this book …

“That stupid piece of metal called a scale!”

My teaser lines this week, come from the excellent historical fiction I am currently reading…
‘St Bartholomew’s Man’ by Mary Delorme.

  4. I have lost over 10 kg, just cutting down on certain foods and decreasing the amount I eat and being more active. I found beachbody.com and have been following their programs for a couple of years. I enjoy the mix of dance, yoga and aerobics their programs are involved around and have been able to keep a exercise routine up, even with my busy lifestyle.
